Satellite Imaging & Fabric Technology: Imagine Cup 2006

Award:
Third position at IMAGINE CUP 2006- Interface Design category. Imagine cup is a global student competition organized by MICROSOFT. Awarded cash prize of US$ 3000

Brief: Imagine Cup 2006 theme: Imagine a world where technology enables better health
We dreamt of a world where technology helps soldier to live a healthier life by tracking health from base camps. This application is built on strong foundation in which fabric used for soldier’s uniforms can sense body parameters and change its acquaintances as per environment.

Project Description:
In today’s world everyone seems to have acquired a selfish attitude, but we stand out of rest. We dedicated these interfaces to the brave soldiers of the world. Let us dream of a world where technology helps soldiers to live a healthier life.
This application is built on strong foundation in which fabric used for soldier’s uniforms can sense body parameters. The fabric has properties to change characteristics for acquaintances with environment. It can change color to camouflage. The fabric sensing capability is interlinked with technology advancements of communication through satellite. Using SIF technology, can lead to monitoring the position and health related data of all the soldiers at any remote locality. Our interfaces are designed in a systematic and user friendly way for usage of this technology to infinite limits.
Some of the interfaces are used to maintain details like personal information, body heat, pulse rate, blood pressure and other information which helps in judging over the medical fitness of a soldier. Our application generates alert whenever a soldier is found to be in medically unfit conditions. Nearest health camp can be provided with all the details of soldier and appropriate help can rush. All these are presented in an interactive user friendly interface with touch screen technology for faster and better usability.
These interfaces adopt the brightness level according to custom settings of user, which helps in security reasons and does provide better visibility.
User Interfaces:
Opening Screen: presents a concept of security, and logo fir sift, when we click on logo, we then move towards the login and verification interface.
Login Screen: presents a tighter security concerns being a military organization application, the verification of the user is done through login and password. It can be done faster with the palm identification, being a touch screen application. A new user can also register with application, when given the key id for his regiment and after filling all the details with register screen. All details are send across the server through satellite to all servers and a new account is made for the user.
Login screen also contains the view settings that control a very important feature, which adjusts its lights according to the sensors. It also provides custom options like; base camp and central office. The base camp option will dim the light of screen and hence would be more secured when viewed in night. While the central office option will present a brighter interface and auto option will present a brighter interface and auto option will detect the light in surrounding with sensors and would provide a appropriate brightness to user according to surroundings.

Regiment Screen: is dynamic interface which comes after login screen. The regiments are displayed on map as well as, on the buttons. The data of regiments is auto detected from the servers, as per the user profile.

Personal Detail Screen: comes, when user selects any particular soldier. This screen displays all the personal details of the soldier on labels, which are binded to the database tables, which store the details about each and every soldier in army. Following are the health monitoring categories:
-       Blood pressure
-       Pulse rate
-       Reports
-       Body heat
An alert can be generated in case of emergencies, when the health data goes abnormal. And this emergency alarm wakes up on the user screen.

Special Features:
-The color of the interfaces will also camouflage as the environment of soldier. This helps the user experience to be more visual and realistic.
- When there is an alert, the information will automatically be send to the nearest health center and soldier will get the medical aid in time.
- There is a feature through which user can talk to the soldier at the field.
